Cleat Locking technology utilizes "claws" to create a strong connection between the adapter and the MiniSaver lock so it's not easily detached. The Kensington 67975 Locking Kit just insert and turn the key to release the push-button, allowing the lock to disengage. The cable is built out of carbon steel to prevent any cutting attempts.
